The Minnesota Timberwolves and Detroit Pistons starred in one of the worst fights of the 2024-25 NBA season, which resulted in seven people, including players and coaches, being ejected.

In a video shared by reporter Dane Moore , Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards made a bold statement after the game. The guard said his team was ready for everything, even to get physical with its opponents, which helped them refocus and win the game.

“If we gonna fight, let’s fight then,” Edwards said. “They out, we out — it’s time to fight. We can’t throw punches, let throw punches on the court.”

With 8:36 left in the second quarter, Timberwolves center Naz Reid got fouled by Pistons’ Ron Holland II. He took issue with the play and started pointing his finger at Holland. Donte DiVincenzo got in the middle of the two and manhandled Holland. More players joined the action before coaches and staffers ran to stop everything.

The aftermath resulted in the Pistons seeing Holland II, Isaiah Stewart, Marcus Sasser and even head coach J.B. Bickerstaff exit the game. On the other end, Reid, DiVincenzo and assistant coach Pablo Prigioni were ejected.

Bickerstaff’s ejection was a surprise for many, but the coach explained he took offense with something Prigioni said to his players.

“Obviously things went too far,” Bickerstaff said, per Associated Press . “But what you see is guys looking out for one another, guys trying to protect one another, guys trying to have each other’s backs. … Those are non-negotiables in our locker room.”

Before the fight began, the Pistons were up 39-30. The Timberwolves took over in the second half (69-44 combined) to secure the 123-104 win.
