Detroit Pistons coach J.B. Bickerstaff looked at the roster when he got the job in July and knew he had something. “You have an idea and you can watch film, but until you’re with people every single day, you don’t know the reality of their skillset,” Bickerstaff told USA TODAY Sports after the Pistons practiced Thursday ahead of Game 1 of their first-round NBA playoff series against the New York Knicks
. “I knew that if you put together the amount of draft picks and the talent that was here, there was something to start with. It was a matter of getting to know them and then figuring out how we can do what we all do together.”
