The Detroit Lions pulled off an amazing and ballsy fake punt against the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday night.
It’s been a while since the Detroit Lions pulled off a successful fake punt, but on Saturday night against the Dallas Cowboys , they pulled off one of the most ridiculous ones we’ve seen from special teams coordinator Dave Fipp.
Backed up at their own 27-yard line, the Lions sent a direct snap to linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin. But instead of the personal protector running it, he pulled up, eyed cornerback Khalil Dorsey, and dropped a nice-looking 31-yard pass for the big gain.

The play jump-started a struggling offense that quickly worked its way into a red zone opportunity. Unfortunately for Detroit, the Cowboys put up a big goal-line stand, forcing an incompletion on fourth-and-goal.
It’s disappointing that this amazing fake punt didn’t result in any points, but that doesn’t erase how awesome the play was.
The Lions and Cowboys went into halftime with Dallas holding a 7-3 lead.
