Meko and Morgan are back on the Pride of Detroit YouTube channel reacting to the contract extension for Lions’ safety Kerby Joseph.
These draft-week contract extensions are starting to become a thing for the Detroit Lions , with the newest iteration being a four-year, $86 million deal for All-Pro safety Kerby Joseph.
Last year the news broke of the Lions re-signing two other All-Pros, right tackle Penei Sewell and receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, just days before the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit. Now, just one day before the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin—another of Lions general manager Brad Holmes’ draft picks gets a market-setting deal.
Originally a third-round selection out of the University of Illinois, Joseph is the first player to be re-signed from the 2022 class. Although I don’t expect that to last long with defensive end Aidan Hutchinson’s deal likely coming in the very-near future.
We break down what we believe the deal means for the Lions moving forward, and give a quick picture of who we think might be a good fit for Detroit if they stay at pick 28 in the first-round of tonight’s draft.
