After shutting down Justin Jefferson, Detroit Lions CB Amik Robertson received an incredible reception from his teammates. Watch the video here.
Detroit Lions cornerback Amik Robertson had the biggest moment in his NFL career on Sunday night. Shadowing Justin Jefferson, the best receiver in the NFL, Robertson held the Vikings receiver to just three catches for 54 yards on nine targets—a huge reason why the Lions were able to hold Minnesota out of the end zone in a 31-9 victory. Robertson’s performance earned him NBC’s game ball, and one of the three game balls coach Dan Campbell handed out in the locker room after the game.
But what Robertson may remember the most is the response he got from his teammates the second he walked into the locker room after the game. This week, the Lions released the “extended cut” of Detroit’s postgame celebration and it captured that emotional moment. Take a look (happens at the 1:05 mark):

Robertson, with the NBC ball in hand, gets a big bear hug from Dan Campbell. Then you can see the emotion of the moment take over for Robertson Terrion Arnold is next in line to embrace Robertson, with both general manager Brad Holmes and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn nearby with the biggest smiles on their faces.
It’s an incredibly cool moment and the culmination of a lot of hard work Robertson has put in over the years. He was drafted on Day 3 of the 2020 NFL Draft . Over the first three years of his career, he would start in just nine games for the Las Vegas Raiders . And when his rookie contract was up, the Raiders opted not to re-sign him.
But with the Lions, Robertson has found a home. He’s played in every game this season, been the team’s starting nickel for most of the year, and when Detroit needed him the most, they entrusted him with the toughest assignment on the field by guarding Jefferson.
“I’ve been anxious for this opportunity for so long,” Robertson said after the game. “Everything I did out there I expected. I knew I was going to play that way. The only thing kind of was shocking (was) that I got Player of the Game. I never got one of those, man, that was an unreal feeling.”
