The Detroit Lions’ offensive creativity hit a new level with a never-before-seen fake stumble touchdown pass.
The Detroit Lions ’ creativity on offense knows no bounds. Against the Chicago Bears , they pulled off a trick play that I have never seen before.
The Lions appeared to be executing either a running play or play action. However, on the backpedal, Lions quarterback Jared Goff stumbled—as did running back Jahmyr Gibbs.
Goff quickly collected himself, cocked back, and found tight end Sam LaPorta for a 21-yard touchdown pass, which put the Lions up 34-14 early in the second half.
Take a look at the play:
Did Goff hit ’em with the fake stumble?!

While it isn’t certain it was an intentional stumble, it would certainly be a crazy coincidence for Goff and Gibbs to trip up on the same exact play—although this is Soldier Field.
The play appeared to lull the Bears into a false sense of security, and Laporta snuck behind the defense without being noticed for the easy score.
Man, this offense is fun.
