Meko and Morgan are joined by Senior Editor of Pride of Detroit, Ryan Mathews, to discuss the news of Lions’ All-Pro center Frank Ragnow retiring from the NFL.
If you have been following the Detroit Lions for a while, then you likely already understand how essential All-Pro center Frank Ragnow has been to this team since he was drafted 20th overall in the 2018 NFL Draft .
At the same time, if you have followed Ragnow’s injury history since the end of the 2023 season when the Lions fell just short of reaching the Super Bowl , then you also probably can empathize with Ragnow’s decision to walk away from the game at just 29 years old.
Joining Meko and Morgan (me) to discuss the fallout of the Ragnow retirement is none other than the Senior Editor of Pride of Detroit, Ryan Mathews. We shared our initial thoughts upon hearing the news and discussed what we made of Ragnow’s announcement on Instagram .
After that, we dive into the topic that is surely in the front of all Lions fans’ minds at the moment—who will be the starting center moving forward? Will the Lions’ coaching staff opt to put veteran offensive lineman Graham Glasgow at center? Or will they continue to see if the rookie out of Georgia, Tate Ratledge, can fill the massive shoes left behind by the departure of one of the best centers of his era in Ragnow?
From there, we discuss our overall concern level regarding the offensive line and why the Lions’ 2025 draft class appears even stronger than it did a few months ago. Lastly, we discuss our favorite Frank Ragnow moments from his time in Detroit and what he may focus on in this next chapter of his life after football.
