The Detroit Lions pulled off an amazing Allen Iverson-inspired celebration vs. the Colts.
The Detroit Lions seem to have no shortage of touchdown celebration creativity. Their latest may have been their best, nodding at one of the most iconic and disrespectful moment in National Basketball Association history.
Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs rushed to the right for a 2-yard touchdown vs. the Indianapolis Colts , and after scoring he summoned Amon-Ra St. Brown over. When the two connected, Gibbs feigned a basketball shot over him, then when St. Brown tumbled to the ground, Gibbs stepped over him.

For the uninitiated, that is a reference to NBA star Allen Iverson, when he made a shot over Lakers Ty Lue. Here’s the play that has gone down in NBA history:
It’s an incredible homage to the play, but the best part about the celebration—and the thing that almost makes it as disrespectful as the original—was the fact that St. Brown wasn’t even on the field for the play.
