Injury news on Lions LB Alex Anzalone, who left Sunday’s game with a forearm injury.
The Detroit Lions were hammering the Jacksonville Jaguars in their Week 11 game, but they may have suffered a big injury right before the end of the first half. As he was trying to make a tackle by the Lions sideline, linebacker Alex Anzalone suffered a friendly-fire shot from Brian Branch and stayed down on the field for several minutes.
UPDATE: According to coach Dan Campbell, Anzalone suffered a broken forearm and will miss six to eight weeks. With seven games remaining in the Lions regular season, it leaves open the possibility he returns for the playoffs.
Eventually, Anzalone got up and was escorted to the locker room while medical professionals helped stabilize his arm. The Lions initially announced that Anzalone was quesitonable to return with a forearm injury. That said, cameras caught Anzalone appear to be mouthing the words “it’s broke.”

Let’s not jump to conclusions yet, as the team has yet to rule him out as of halftime.
UPDATE: Anzalone is out for the remainder of the game.
That said, the Lions are in a tough situation at linebacker, as they’ve been ravished by injuries as of late. Derrick Barnes (knee) is likely out for the season with a knee injury and Jalen Reeves-Maybin (neck) is on injured reserve for at least two more games. That leaves Detroit with just Malcolm Rodriguez, Jack Campbell, Trevor Nowaske, Ben Niemann, and Ezekiel Turner as their five healthy linebackers on the 53-man roster.
We’ll update this post as soon as we have more information on his status.
