Third Detroit Lion makes NFL Top 100 of 2025 list

Three Detroit Lions have made the NFL’s Top 100 Players of 2025 list, and we’re only at the halfway point.

This year, the NFL is rolling out their Top 100 Players list little by little. Essentially, they’re dropping two names a day, which is really drawing out the drama.

As of this publication, they’ve worked their way from Player 100 to 53. With their latest announcement came the third Detroit Lions player to make the list: defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, who came in at 55.

It’s an interesting landing spot for Hutchinson, seeing as he managed to post 7.5 sacks last season in just five games. He was on his way to a potential Defensive Player of the Year campaign, but a broken leg cost him the majority of his 2024 season. Remember that these lists are voted on by players toward the end of the previous season, so it’s entirely possible Hutchinson’s injury absence had him out of players’ minds. Last year, Hutchinson came in 47th on the list.

Previously, Kerby Joseph made his debut on the list, coming in at 71. Joseph led all NFL players in interceptions last year, posting a career-high nine in 2024. Since 2022, Joseph has more interceptions than any other player with 17 total.

Sam LaPorta also made the list at 94 overall. That’s actually a 14 spot drop for LaPorta, who went from 889 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns his rookie season to 726 yards and seven scores last year.

As the list nears the top half, there is almost certainly going to be at least four more Lions who make the list. Penei Sewell and Amon-Ra St. Brown are nearly guaranteed to make the top-50. Jared Goff and Jahmyr Gibbs also seem like pretty safe bets to make it, as well. If all of those four players make it, Detroit will have a total of seven players on the top-100 list—the highest total ever for the franchise. Last year, Detroit had five players on the list (Sewell, St. Brown, Goff, Hutchinson, LaPorta).
