The Detroit Lions are on the cover of SI’s 2024 NFL preview edition, and both the cover story and the photo go HARD.
It’s no surprise that expectations are sky high for the Detroit Lions in 2024 after making the NFC Championship last season. Still, that doesn’t make the next thing I’m about to say feel any stranger.
On Thursday, Sports Illustrated released the cover for their 2024 NFL preview edition, and the Lions are the cover story. Yes, your 2024 Detroit Lions are the feature for Sports Illustrated’s preview edition. Take a look:
Dan Campbell knew in 2022: “Pretty soon, these puppies will become real dawgs.”
Now, the Lions renaissance is speeding toward its first Super Bowl@GregBishopSI and @ConorOrr on a team and city that have both engineered turnarounds https://t.co/JORyPCfNst pic.twitter.com/kYzIXgDmYV

Keep in mind, this is not a regional cover. This is the national edition for their 2024 preview.
The story itself—co-written by Greg Bishop and Conor Orr —is definitely worth your time. It covers familiar narratives—like Taylor Decker’s journey through the Matt Patricia era to reaping the benefits of Dan Campbell and company, and Jared Goff going from a crass goodbye from Los Angeles to welcoming arms in Detroit. But it also goes well beyond that, digging into the local culture and the city’s hunger for a successful Lions team, appreciating the underappreciated like Kalif Raymond, and, of course, more Dan Campbell goodness. Take a good amount of your day to read the entire thing. It’s worth it.
Of course, if you’re just focused on the cover itself, here are two more goodies for you. Below is a video of the cover shoot, including a pretty crazy drone shot through the facility.
And if you want to get your hands on the magazine cover yourself, you can purchase it here for $15 including shipping and handling .
