A compilation of Detroit Lions players reacting to Frank Ragnow’s retirement.
On Monday, Detroit Lions fans mourned the retirement of All-Pro center Frank Ragnow, and celebrated his outstanding seven-year career. It was a day of mixed emotions, as it undoubtedly hurts the Lions’ chances to continue their success, but it’s also hard not to feel happy for the player who battled chronic injuries for a half-decade to put that suffering to an end to start his post-football life with his family—which will soon include two young children.
Lions fans weren’t alone in sharing their emotions on social media. Ragnow’s retirement was met with a ton of reactions from his teammates, both past and present. Here’s how Lions players reacted to the retirement of Frank Ragnow.
Offensive line teammates
There are few bonds stronger than that of an offensive lineman room in the NFL, so let’s start with their reaction to the news.
Congrats to one of my all time favorite teammates and a good friend. Best center I’ve ever seen play the game. Hell of a career @KNARFWONGAR ❤️ https://t.co/wZXewox4oj

And a former teammate of his…

Jared Goff
No one may be more impacted from Ragnow’s departure than Goff, so the quarterback left a short, but powerful message on Instagram:

Running backs
There are few people more appreciative of a good center than a stable of running backs. David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs owe a lot of their success to Ragnow, and they know it—as does another former Lions running back I’ve included in here:

Absolute stud player but absolutely a better person!!! What a terrific career and representative of the Lions franchise….rest that big toe up Mr grizzly outdoors!✊ https://t.co/efhV5sSfQJ

Someone who can relate
Earlier this offseason, defensive lineman John Cominsky announced his retirement from football due to an injury he just could not overcome. Unsurprisingly, Cominsky left a heartfelt message calling Ragnow “the best to ever do it.”

Other Lions players
It didn’t matter what position you played or which side of the ball you were on, it appears Frank Ragnow’s influence reached the entire Lions locker room:
