Checking in with Detroit Lions fans for our latest SB Nation Reacts survey: With Alex Anzalone on IR, which LB needs to step up?
Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Detroit Lions fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
Each week, in our SB Nation Reacts Survey, we will provide readers with a question or two specifically geared toward Detroit Lions fans, with an article exploring the results released later in the week. In this installment, we have two questions: the first being a recurring weekly question, and the next being designed for Week 12:
1. Are you confident the Lions are headed in the right direction? (weekly poll)
2. With Alex Anzalone on IR, which LB needs to step up?
The Lions are 9-1 on the season, are on an eight-game winning streak, and have beaten three teams by 35+ points over the last six weeks (no other team has a 35-point margin of victory this season). Fans’ confidence in the direction of the Lions has followed suit.
Since the Lions’ win over the Seahawks in Week 4, confidence polls have returned results between 96 and 99%, including maxing out at 99% in each of the previous two weeks. And now, following a 52-6 massacre of the Jaguars, it’s time to vote again.
Our second question this week will be a little bit harder to answer. We have provided fans five options to choose from when answering the question: With Alex Anzalone on IR, which LB needs to step up?
- Jack Campbell
- Malcolm Rodriguez
- Ben Niemann
- Trevor Nowaske
- Other
Answers will likely come down to each fan’s perspective on the situation. Does Jack Campbell need to step up his game because he is now the top linebacker on the roster and will be the player relaying defensive calls? Or maybe you think it’s Malcolm Rodriguez, the man who is expected to directly fill Anzalone’s starting spot at the WILL. Perhaps Ben Niemann or Trevor Nowaske will get fans’ votes because they will go from a situational role into an LB3 role that sees the field considerably more. It’s also possible fans believe Ezekiel Turner or one of the practice squad players will need to elevate their games because they’ll also take on larger roles.
It’s time to vote in the polls below and keep an eye out later in the week for the results.
