The Saints, Chiefs may steal Lions top trade candidate wide receiver, Tyler Boyd before this year’s deadline. According to a report , one source has the Titans moving on from Boyd despite signing him this offseason to bolster the receiving corps. Originally selected in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh product was hoping to be a reliable slot wideout for Will Levis but the offense has been falling apart so the Titans decided to move on from veteran DeAndre Hopkins . It doesn’t help that Boyd only got 184 receiving yards with no touchdowns so it might be best to send him to a roster where he could shine.
However, the Titans are faltering and they’re probably going to keep Treylon Burks around to build around him for the future. Even though Burks continues to be in numerous trade rumors, especially this past offseason, the Titans might be better off building homegrown receivers around Levis. Burks is younger than Boyd and the veteran could make his strides with a roster ready for a championship run. The Bengals originally wanted to keep Boyd in their receiving room but they made a huge emphasis on Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase.
While trading Boyd weakens the wideout room for Tennessee if they can get some reliable draft capital in return for 2025, the Titans might be open to it. They were more than happy trading Hopkins so it shouldn’t be long before the team will firesale , especially if they lose another matchup leading them to 1-7 on the year.
Saints, Chiefs May Steal Tyler Boyd in a Trade
Revitalizing New Orleans
After extending Alvin Kamara and signing Marquez Valdes-Scantling , the Saints seem to want to stay in for one more playoff push. However, the team was on a promising 2-0 start but things haven’t been going their way despite the high expectations that Dennis Allen had for the roster. Allen is on the hot seat and he needs to at least make a wild card if he wants to keep his job so this means trading for someone like Boyd to help in the slot might boost their chances. Valdes-Scantling is nothing more but a rotational wideout but Boyd is still capable of being a full-time starter in this league again and finally gets the shine he’s looking for.
Derek Carr is set to return and needs all the weapons to be a reliable passer. Boyd has the talent to get open for Carr while behind one of the worst offensive lines. The Saints must create plays for Carr to get the ball out quickly and effectively, Boyd is more than reliable to do that behind Chris Olave and Valdes-Scantling. They’re missing Rashid Shaheed but adding another wideout to help Scantling can give Carr more weapons to get this team back into the playoff picture.
Best of the Best
The Chiefs are still monitoring the trade market and this may include trading for another wideout this season. Despite trading for DeAndre Hopkins , the Chiefs still need some longevity for Patrick Mahomes in the passing attack. Mecole Hardman, Juju Smith-Schuster and Skyy Moore might not stick around beyond 2025 so they could bring in someone like Boyd to fill the slot behind Xavier Worthy and Hopkins. Rashee Rice and Marquise Brown will be back sometime next year but the Chiefs won’t have to worry about it until the offseason arrives.
Boyd could easily find his role in one of the best offenses in the league as a reliable WR4 man. He doesn’t need to be a full-time starter in the league anymore but enough to catch a couple of footballs to move the chains. However, they could use him now in the slot this year if they want Mahomes to get the ball out quickly. Boyd may not be the fastest like Worthy but it’s enough to be a dependable option.
