If NFL teams really want Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson to become their next head coach, they’ll have to be willing to spend top dollar.
Josina Anderson is reporting that Johnson’s asking price is roughly $15 million per year.
“I’m told personnel around the league are discussing their awareness that some Owners have been told #Lions OC Ben Johnson’s asking price is at least or around $15M/year for a head coach job, per source,” Anderson said.
That’s a pretty steep asking price for someone without head coaching experience.

Johnson is considered the hottest candidate for the 2024 hiring cycle. He’s been the conductor of a successful offense in Detroit for the past two seasons.
The Lions are averaging 27.3 points and 407.1 yards per game this season. Johnson has done an excellent job of having a balanced attack and getting the best out of his top playmakers, like Jared Goff, David Montgomery, Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jahmyr Gibbs.
CBS Sports insider Jonathan Jones recently reported that Johnson is expected to receive multiple offers.
