Detroit Lions offensive line coach Hank Fraley is running it back with the team for the 2025 season.
The Detroit Lions coaching staff has been picked at all week since the team’s Divisional Round loss, but it appears one critical coach isn’t going anywhere. Lions offensive line coach Hank Fraley is staying with the Lions, as first announced by Fraley’s wife, Danielle, over on her Facebook page . Justin Rogers of Detroit Football Network has confirmed, as well.
“Year 8 loading,” the post read. “Did you guys really think we would leave for Chicago?!?!? Our hearts are in Detroit!!!”
The post was geo-tagged from the Lions’ training facility in Allen Park.
Fraley reportedly interviewed for the Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator position twice this offseason. He was also rumored to be one of the targets new Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson wanted to bring over with him from Detroit.
But, instead, it appears Fraley has made the decision to stay with the Lions organization he has been with since 2018. It is unclear at the moment whether Fraley is getting a raise, a promotion, or a title change.
UPDATE: Per Tom Pelissero, Fraley will also now be the team’s run game coordinator .
On Sunday, Lions All-Pro center Frank Ragnow explained what makes Fraley such a special coach.
“I don’t think I could play in this league without the guy. He’s everything to me. He’s been there since Day 1,” Ragnow said. “In this league, there are a lot of coaches, but there’s not many coaches like him that empower his players and really it is an open dialogue. He really does everything he can to put us in the best positions to be confident and go out there and play well.”
Ragnow even joked that he would sabotage any efforts to leave .
“You refuse to let Hank leave,” Ragnow said. “I haven’t played in this league without Hank and I don’t plan on doing it. I’ll sabotage him, I’ll leak stories, whatever it takes.”
I don’t know if Ragnow is responsible, but he got his wish. Hank Fraley is back!
