Lions cornerback Emmanuel Moseley reportedly suffered torn pec in practice and is out indefinitely. Here’s what we know:

According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Detroit Lions cornerback Emmanuel Moseley suffered a torn pectoral at practice this week, and will be out indefinitely.

It’s another moment of terrible luck for Moseley, who has now suffered three serious injuries in three consecutive seasons. He played in just five games in 2022 before tearing his ACL while with the 49ers . The following year, when he joined the Lions, he played in just two snaps before tearing his other ACL. Now, he’s likely out for months—if not the entire season—with this torn pectoral. If Detroit opts to place Moseley on injured reserve now, he won’t be eligible to return this year. If they decide to place him on injured reserve during roster cuts—like they are tentatively planning with John Cominsky —he would be eligible to return after a minimum of four games.

This offseason, the Lions were hopeful that Moseley could turn around his luck and signed him to a one-year deal worth up to $2.875 million .

In camp, Moseley was transitioning from outside cornerback to the nickel position. Through two weeks, he’s been jockeying with Amik Robertson for the starting role. However, on Monday, coach Dan Campbell noted that they may bring safety Ifeatu Melifonwu into the mix.

“The nickel position is big between Amik and E-man, and we may give Iffy some reps there,” Campbell said.

Detroit has fortified their cornerback room elsewhere. This offseason, they traded for Carlton Davis, drafted both Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw, as well as re-signed Moseley, Kindle Vildor, and Khalil Dorsey.

However, Arnold left Monday’s practice to be evaluated for a concussion.

We’ll likely get updates on both Moseley and Arnold on Tuesday morning during Campbell’s pre-practice press conference.
