The Week 18 matchup between the Lions and Vikings is the biggest regular season game of the season, and should ensure a raucous atmosphere inside of Ford Field on Sunday night.
As I am writing this, I find myself thinking, “Is it Sunday yet?” Thinking back, this is also exactly how I felt leading up to the first playoff game last year. The week leading up to the game felt as if it was moving in slow motion, and don’t even get me started on how long the actual day of the game took.
And while the final regular season game of the year isn’t necessarily a playoff game, the stakes attached to the Sunday night game between the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings are pretty massive.
The NFC North crown, the number one seed in the conference—all will be up for grabs in Week 18, and it should make for an absolutely electric atmosphere inside of Ford Field.
That brings us to today’s Question of the Day:
Will the atmosphere in Ford Field rival last year’s playoff run?
Answer: Yes, and if not exactly on par with the energy leading up to the Lions’ win over the Los Angeles Rams last year, I think it will get close.
Yes, the playoffs are already clinched for both teams, but at the same time, everyone knows how big of an advantage having the one seed is. Additionally, Lions fans have had to hear for weeks now about how they may be too banged up for a Super Bowl run at this point.
Simply put, if you have some good hearing protection around the house, and you are headed downtown this weekend, I would recommend bringing them along. Just in case.
How about you? Do you think that Ford Field will be as electric as it was for the playoffs in 2023? Let us know in the comments below.
