Our latest SB Nation Reacts survey asks fans if they believe Jahmyr Gibbs will exceed or fall short of his projected rushing totals.
Welcome to another installment in SB Nation’s Reacts survey series. This week, we are asking Detroit Lions fans two questions:
- Will Jahmyr Gibbs exceed his projected total of 1075.5 rushing yards?
- Will Jahmyr Gibbs exceed his projected total of 10.5 rushing TDs?
After checking in on Jared Goff’s projected passing totals for 2025 last week, we decided to run the survey back with one of the most prolific young running backs in the NFL.
For this exercise, we’ll use the projected stat totals from the folks over at FanDuel Sportsbook for context. At the time of the publication of this article, Gibbs is projected to rush for 1,075.5 yards and score 10.5 rushing touchdowns.
Running back statistics can be finicky, and the position lends itself to potential injuries, but Gibbs’ previous two seasons suggest these numbers should be attainable. Here’s a look at what he’s done on the ground over his first two seasons in the NFL:
2023: 945 rushing yards and 10 rushing TDs
2024: 1,412 rushing yards and 16 rushing TDs
It’s also worth considering that the Lions have a new offensive coordinator in John Morton, and while coaches have been adamant that the offense will stay the same, there could be some tweaks to Gibbs’ usage. The easiest to envision is Gibbs’ involvement in the passing game. In 2023, Gibbs registered 316 receiving yards and a touchdown, then improved those stats to 517 receiving yards and four touchdowns. It’s necessary to recognize that these numbers would NOT factor into Gibbs’ rushing stats. So, if you believe his receiving numbers will continue to increase in 2025, will it come at the expense of his rushing total, or will it be additional production?
Let us know your thoughts by voting in the survey below, and check back in later in the week for the results. Additionally, throughout the year, we ask questions of the most plugged-in Detroit Lions fans and fans across the country.
