Who do you think will lead the Detroit Lions in interceptions in 2024?
Thanks to a big infusion of talent during the offseason, we likely will continue to read about the Detroit Lions tinkering with various lineups in the secondary. While it was a relative weakness with last year’s team, this year’s roster has a plethora of options to choose from in 2024.
That brings us to today’s Question of the Day:
Who will lead the Lions in interceptions this year?
My Answer: Despite all of the new faces in the Lions’ secondary, I am still going with a familiar face—safety Kerby Joseph. Since entering the league out of the University of Illinois, Joseph has been a ball hawk, grabbing four interceptions in each of his first two seasons in the NFL, and I think that number reaches new heights in 2024.
Even if Joseph doesn’t see 100% of the team’s defensive snaps, I still think there is a world in which he sets a new career high. With all of the new additions to the secondary, I am hoping Joseph is more freed up to do what he does best—play that deep, centerfield spot, where he can use his elite athleticism and range to track down errant passes.
And as always, if the Lions’ pass rush can turn things up a bit in 2024, it should make things easier for the back half of the defense to force turnovers.
