Picking out who we think had the best 2025 NFL Draft class.
To fully enjoy the 2025 NFL Draft , the best method is to completely admit that you know nothing. Even if you’re a draft junkie and spend months grinding film, reading profiles, and running your own mock drafts, it pales in comparison to the information NFL teams have—and they routinely mess it up. Detroit Lions general manager Brad Holmes not-so-subtlety tried to remind fans and media of this after the final day of the draft.
“I understand that fans and people on the outside of this building, they have to—they naturally have reactions, and they’ll have comments, thoughts about the decisions that we make, and I think the tough part about it is that, the people on the outside, they have very limited information about the decisions that we make,” Holmes said. “And we have all the information which goes into that decision. Also, not just the information that’s available, but also the work that we have to put into it.”
It’s a fair point, and it’s always why I preface all of my draft opinions with some sort of statement close to, “There’s a good chance I’m completely wrong…”
But let’s throw caution to the wind because why the hell not? Today’s Question of the Day is:
Which NFL team had the best 2025 NFL Draft class?
My answer: Admittedly, I’m just catching up to every other team’s draft. When you’re covering one team for the NFL Draft, you tend to get super tunnel-visioned. But looking through each team’s class here, and I oddly like the Dallas Cowboys ’ draft a lot. Here are their picks:
- Round 1: Alabama OL Tyler Booker
- Round 2: Boston College EDGE Donovan Ezeiruaku
- Round 3: East Carolina CB Shavon Revel Jr.
- Round 5: Texas RB Jaydon Blue
- Round 5: Florida LB Shemar James
- Round 6: Oregon OL Ajani Cornelius
- Round 7: UCLA DL Jay Toia
- Round 7: Clemson RB Phil Mafah
- Round 7: Maryland DL Tommy Akingbesote
I like this draft because it fills two perceived needs that the Lions just so happened to share. I think most Lions fans would have gladly taken both of those first two picks—although obviously they never had a realistic shot at either. But I also think Revel in the third round is excellent value for a tall, long corner who can play both some zone and man coverage.
It makes sense for Dallas to double up on running backs, and Blue is a potentially dangerous weapon with his speed (4.38) and receiving ability—a knock-off Jahmyr Gibbs, if you will.
I’m definitely swayed by the Cowboys’ first three picks, but in a draft class that was supposedly thin , Dallas did well here.
Which team do you think nailed their 2025 draft?
