Predicting which Detroit Lions players will have a big game against the Chicago Bears.
The Detroit Lions have no choice but to rebound on Sunday against the Chicago Bears . A road loss could cost Detroit a hold of their own destiny. They’ll still have a good shot at the NFC North, but the No. 1 seed would be fading away and their margin for error would be minimal. That doesn’t even take into account the mental factor of losing a pair of games in a row while the roster continues to take injury hits.
But let’s not go too far down that road. The Lions are 6.5-point favorites against the Bears and for good reason. The Lions still have one of the most talented offenses in football and playmakers on defense, while Chicago is on an eight-game losing streak and only seemingly getting worse.
So today’s Question of the Day is:
Which Lions player will have a big game against the Chicago Bears?
My answer: DJ Reader.
In the last matchup, Reader had his best game as a Lion. He produced a season-high four pressures and tallied 2.0 sacks.
This week, he won’t have the benefit of Alim McNeill next to him, but the Bears are continuing to deal with some injuries on the offensive line. Teven Jenkins is questionable to play after just getting in a limited practice, while reserve Doug Kramer is doubtful with a shoulder injury.
Meanwhile, the pressure will be on Reader, Levi Onwuzurike, and Pat O’Connor to bring the pressure up the middle for the rest of the season. This is a great week to get that going, as Chicago has allowed the most sacks in the league (58).
Reader will thrive on Sunday and bring back hope to a defensive unit that many are questioning right now.
