Open thread: What is the Lions’ biggest ‘revenge’ game in 2024?

June 25, 2024 by Pride Of Detroit

NFL: Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions have some opportunities to get revenge in 2024. Which team, after suffering a loss to them last year, would you like to see them beat this year?

The Detroit Lions had a year to remember in 2023, winning a playoff game for the first time since 1992 and making it to the NFC Championship game, but they have some unfinished business to attend to for the 2024 regular season.

Of the Lions’ six total losses, they will have the opportunity to get revenge against five of those, with the only team not on their schedule being the Baltimore Ravens . They did manage to split against the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears , but you know it’s not sitting right with them that their last matchup ended with a loss against each team.

Today’s Question of the Day is…

Which team on the Lions’ schedule would you like them to get revenge on the most in 2024?

The options:

  • Week 4: vs. Seattle Seahawks – 37-31 OT loss in Week 2
  • Week 6: @ Dallas Cowboys – 20-19 loss* in Week 17
  • Week 9 and Week 14: Green Bay Packers – 29-22 loss in Week 12 on Thanksgiving
  • Week 13 and Week 16: Chicago Bears – 28-13 loss in Week 14
  • Week 17 @ San Francisco 49ers – 34-31 loss in the NFCC game

My answer: Dallas Cowboys.

This loss still just doesn’t sit right with me. The Cowboys were essentially gifted a win after the officials could not get a call right on a play that was meant for Taylor Decker to report eligible and receive a pass from Jared Goff for a 2-point conversion and the win. This was pointed out to the officials from Dan Campbell before the game even started, and they still couldn’t get it right, and they wouldn’t accept blame following the aftermath.

This will definitely be bulletin board material for the Lions and I’m sure a lot of players are going to have this game circled on their calendars. This isn’t a primetime game, surprisingly, but it will be nationally televised in the 4 p.m. ET slot. I’d expect it to be another close game, but if the Lions want to get their revenge, they might need to leave it out of the official’s hands this time.

Your turn. What revenge game are you looking forward to the most? Let us know in the comments below.
