Now that he’s fully cleared, let’s predict how many sacks Detroit Lions EDGE Aidan Hutchinson will have in 2025.
With the news that Detroit Lions star defensive end Aidan Hutchinson has been cleared for football activities , the next three months will be spent preparing for the 2025 football season. Unlike some other injured Lions players, who will spend the majority of the offseason rehabbing, Hutchinson is expected to be able to just focus on football. Certainly, there will be a mental aspect of the injury Hutchinson will have to hurdle—developing trust in his injured leg and playing without thinking about it—but, physically speaking, Hutchinson is ready.
Last year, Hutchinson was on pace for an outstanding season. In just 4.5 games, he tallied 7.5 sacks—leading the league in pressures and sacks for a couple of weeks even after his season was over.
So today’s Question of the Day is:
How many sacks will Aidan Hutchinson have in 2025?
My answer: Let’s refresh your memory on Hutchinson’s stats so far:
2022: 9.5 sacks
2023: 11.5 sacks
2024: 7.5 sacks (in five games)
While Hutchinson was on pace for 25.5 sacks last season, we need to pull back those expectations for a couple of reasons. First, that included a ridiculous 4.5-sack game against the Buccaneers . He had just 3.0 sacks in the other four games. Additionally, you may remember that Hutchinson was up against backup tackles in nearly every single game last year. NFL talent at offensive tackle is perilously thin, so this was clearly a big advantage for Hutchinson.
But I don’t want to take too much away from his productivity last year. He was clearly playing at a double-digit sack level, and I expect him to pick up right from where he left off.
So I’m predicting 14.5 sacks for Hutchinson’s 2025 season.
