After initially giving the Lions just one primetime game in 2021 and none in 2022, they took a gamble on Detroit, baking four primetime games into the Lions’ 2023 schedule. The league was rewarded handsomely, as Detroit gained steam as America’s darling team, an underdog story that exceeded expectations.

Question of the day: How many primetime games will the Lions have in 2024?
My answer: I’m gonna go with three.
The Lions have a few matchups that really stand out to me, namely their playoff opponents. I wouldn’t be surprised if one or both of the Rams and Buccaneers games are slotted for primetime.
The Lions also play the Packers twice, and considering how the Packers finished the season, I’d expect one of those two to be in primetime. Lastly, I’d slot in one other miscellaneous game that gets the Lions on “Thursday Night Football” or “Monday Night Football,” if the aforementioned games don’t already cover that base.
As an added bonus, there’s the Thanksgiving game, which doesn’t formally count as primetime, but you and I and the rest of America will be watching.
