The Detroit Lions will reportedly kick off their 2025 NFL schedule with a divisional game against the Green Bay Packers.
The first leak of the Detroit Lions ’ 2025 season has dropped and it’s a big one. According to Jordan Schultz, the Lions will open the season on the road against the Green Bay Packers .
The Lions and Packers are both coming off somewhat successful seasons. Both teams made the playoffs last year, with the Lions winning the one seed while posting a 15-2 record—and the Packers slipping in at the seven seed at 11-6 overall. However, both teams failed to pick up a postseason win and are hoping to remedy that in 2025.
This will be the first time the Lions and Packers have kicked off the season since 2005, when the Lions defeated the Packers 17-3 in Detroit.
It’ll be a big game for both teams to kick off the 2025 season with an opportunity for an early divisional win. Additionally, the Lions will be able to get their game in Lambeau out of the way early in the season, well before the weather conditions make it a tougher place to play.
According to Schultz, the game will be played at 4:25 p.m. ET. So no primetime game for Detroit to kick off the 2025 season.
