The Detroit Lions have used their sixth-round pick on guard Christian Mahogany, another potential steal.
With their likely last pick in the 2024 NFL Draft , the Detroit Lions have selected guard Christian Mahogany out of Boston College.
The pick finally addresses the team’s long-term need at guard. The Lions opted to move on from Jonah Jackson this offseason, and replaced him with veteran Kevin Zeitler—offering a band-aid solution on a long-term issue.
Now, it may be a long-shot for the Lions to expect Mahogany, a sixth-round pick, to be their starting guard of the future. However, many draft projections had Mahogany as a Day 2 pick. It’s unclear why he fell this far in the draft, but what is clear is he’ll be a perfect culture fit with Dan Campbell and the Lions.
From Dane Brugler’s draft guide:
“The Boston College coaches call him the “tone -setter” of the offense and praise his maturity to compartmentalize and work through adversity … twice voted a team captain by his teammate”
