The Detroit Lions take on the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday in a game that will likely eliminate the loser from contention for the top seed in the NFC. But the Lions will be a bit short-handed in their secondary for the game.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Lions starting safety CJ Gardner-Johnson has already been ruled out of the game. Gardner-Johnson is still recovering from a torn pectoral injury and has not played since September.
However, Gardner-Johnson recently had his practice window opened, so there is optimism that he will at least be back for the Lions in time for the start of their playoff run.
Gardner-Johnson led the league in interceptions as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles last year. In just two games for the Lions this season he had 13 tackles.

This past week the Detroit Lions secured their first division title in 30 years. A win over the Cowboys would tie their franchise record for wins in a single season with 12.
But beating the Cowboys will be no easy feat as many of the league’s best teams have learned the hard way.
Can the Lions beat the Cowboys this weekend?
