In 2021, the Detroit Lions selected Amon-Ra St. Brown in the fourth round of the NFL Draft. Three years later, the front office signed him to a $120 million contract extension .
St. Brown took his game to another level in 2023, hauling in 119 passes for 1,515 yards and 10 touchdowns. His production was a main reason why the Lions went from a feel-good story to a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
Before the 2024 NFL Draft got started in Detroit, St. Brown showed love to the community by teaming up with Little Caesars and serving people in need.
We caught up with Amon-Ra St. Brown to discuss his extension with the Lions, his work with Little Caesars, and much more.

The Spun: You teamed up with Little Caesars for the NFL Draft. Can you tell me a little bit about that?
Amon-Ra St. Brown: I’ve been with Little Caesars for almost two years. I’m excited to be with Little Caesars, the official sponsor of the NFL. We served from the Love Kitchen in Detroit. It’s awesome to see the families and be able to give back to the community. I love being there for them.
The Spun: You signed a massive extension with the Lions, so congratulations about that. Was there an emphasis on getting this done before training camp?
ARSB: It happened organically. We’ve been talking since the end of the season. It got to the point where we agreed to a deal before the draft. I don’t think either side had a specific date or time to get this done. The timing is super ironic since I got drafted three years ago. I’m excited to be here.

The Spun: If you told the college version of yourself that you’d land a $120 million deal, what would you think your reaction would be?
ARSB: I wouldn’t be surprised. I worked my whole life for this, but the journey isn’t done yet. If anything, it has just started. As a team, we have so much left to prove. We got the guys in our locker room pushing together to be great. I worked my whole life for this.
The Spun: Will you guys use the NFC Championship Game as fuel for next season?
ARSB: It stings the first few weeks for sure. I know it hurt a bunch of us not being able to be in the Super Bowl. After a few weeks go by, you start getting ready for the next season. We don’t want to have that feeling agin, so we need to put the work in to make sure we did more than what we did last year. Because if we do the same thing as last year but expect different results, that doesn’t make any sense. We got to score more, be better on third down, and take care of the ball more.
The Spun: Do you have a favorite Dan Campbell story?
ARSB: There are a bunch of Dan Campbell stories. I love the energy he brings to the team. He’s the same guy every single day. He knows what we go through as players. I really appreciate that he can relate to us on every level. His postgame speeches are amazing. After a win, he came into the locker room and just started yelling. It was really dope. He has a gift when it comes to being a leader.
The Spun: Caleb Williams claims he beat you in bowling. Is that true? And if so, how will you get back at him?
ARSB: We went bowling a few weeks ago. It was right around the corner from his house. I know he goes there all the time. I don’t bowl often. I’ve probably gone bowling twice in the past few years. He has the upper hand on me. If we go play basketball, I’ll give it to him.

The Spun: What would be your advice to the players who had to wait a bit longer than others to get drafted last weekend?
ARSB: I’d tell them that it might be one of the worst experiences waiting for the call, especially if you’re not going top 10. Once you hear your name called, however, enjoy the moment and be ready to work. Put your head down, do everything you’ve been told to do, and go the extra mile. They just need to know that the cream always rises to the top.
The Spun: Do you think Detroit will have a target on its back heading into next season?
ARSB: We got a target on our back. We feel like it got bigger this past season. We’re going to get every team’s best shot. We’re going to be ready for it. Players, coaches, management – everyone needs to be willing to put in the work.
