The Detroit Lions are fortifying their offensive line by signing a 2023 Pro Bowler.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Detroit intends to add free agent guard Kevin Zeitler on a one-year deal, pending a physical. Zeitler spent the last three seasons with the Baltimore Ravens.
“Zeitler is flying to Detroit tonight to take a physical with the plan to sign Tuesday with the Lions,” Schefter wrote .
Zeitler, 34, made the first Pro Bowl of his career this past season. He’ll step into the starting left guard spot vacated by Jonah Jackson, who signed with the Los Angeles Rams last week.
Through his first 12 NFL seasons, Zeitler has been a model of consistency. Since 2015, Zeitler has missed only five games in nine seasons, starting every game in six of those nine campaigns.
A first-round pick out of Wisconsin in 2012, Zeitler spent his first five years in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals before two seasons with the Cleveland Browns.
Acquired via trade by the New York Giants in 2019, Zeitler started 31 games in the next two years before being released in a salary cap move. He then caught on with Baltimore and became a mainstay for the Ravens.
Zeitler played over 1,000 snaps in all three of his seasons in Baltimore.
