The Lions’ revamped secondary is turning some heads.
Watch out Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery, there’s a new dynamic duo in town.
Former cornerback turned analyst Aqib Talib expressed excitement over the Detroit Lions’ cornerback pairing of Carlton Davis Jr. and Terrion Arnold on “Up and Adams” with Kay Adams.
Aqib Talib thinks that Detroit Lions CB’s Carlton Davis and Terrion Arnold will be a top CB “tandem” in the NFL this season
“I’m calling it now… they’ll be a top TANDEM in the league as far as cornerbacks”

“I can’t wait to watch the Lions and Terrion Arnold. Mainly because Carlton Davis Jr. He has an NFL vet on the other side of him and that’s going to be a top tandem — I’m calling it right now,” he says.
The Lions acquired Davis on the first day of free agency in a trade with Tampa Bay, where he spent the first six years of his career. He racked up 320 tackles, 73 pass defenses, 12 tackles for loss, nine interceptions, four fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles, and one quarterback hit in 76 career games (75 starts). A key part of the Super Bowl-winning Buccaneers defense, Davis is expected to take under his wing rookie cornerback Terrion Arnold, selected 24th overall in April.
“Arnold was a ballhawk last year,” Talib said. “I think he had five or six interceptions in college. If you get interceptions in college, you get interceptions in the league — it always translates. Carlton Davis, I’ve always been a fan.”
Talib, a 2008 first-round pick and Super Bowl winning cornerback himself, knows a thing or two about the position, and it’s encouraging to see him so geeked about this pair.
“The Lions are going to do big things, and I think the cornerback tandem will be a huge part of it,” he said.
