Updates on the latest Detroit Lions injury news at training camp, including Kerby Joseph’s absence.

After a day off, the Detroit Lions returned to training camp on Monday for a long, hot day of practice. As with seemingly every practice thus far, there were some interesting injury developments.

Let’s get into it.

Still on injury list:

  • LT Taylor Decker (PUP)
  • G Miles Frazier (PUP)
  • DT Alim McNeill (PUP)
  • DT Mekhi Wingo (PUP)
  • EDGE Josh Paschal (NFI)
  • LB Malcolm Rodriguez (PUP)
  • CB Khalil Dorsey (PUP)

Of this group, I saw Decker, Wingo, and Rodriguez working to the side with trainers.

Not practicing:

  • CB Amik Robertson
  • S Kerby Joseph

Joseph has now missed two practices in a row. He turned down interview requests after Monday’s practice, but was seen sporting a compression sleeve on his leg. In his place, Avonte Maddox was practicing alongside Brian Branch as a starting safety.

Robertson finished Saturday’s practice without any incident and even talked to reporters for a lengthy period of time. It’s unclear why he was not participating in practice on Monday. Interestingly, with Maddox and safety and Robertson out, it was Erick Hallett getting most of the first-team defense looks at nickelback.

Returned to practice:

  • RB Sione Vaki
  • S Ian Kennelly

After suffering an injury in the second practice of camp, Vaki returned on Monday. He was still limited to walkthroughs and individual drills, but he’s progressing well.

Kennelly also returned and was limited to individual drills.

Limited in practice

  • EDGE Al-Quadin Muhammad
  • LB Alex Anzalone
  • CB Ennis Rakestraw
  • CB D.J. Reed

Muhammad, Anzalone, and Rakestraw all saw some team work, but were rotated out often, as well. I did not see Reed take part in any team drills, which has been fairly normal over the past few days.

Left practice

  • RB Kye Robichaux

Robichaux left practice after taking a hit from Anthony Pittman during one-on-one drills. The Lions did not provide an update after practice. Craig Reynolds got a lot of work with the second and third teams with Robichaux sidelined and Vaki limited.
