Detroit Lions safety Brian Branch recently underwent surgery for an injury.
Head coach Dan Campbell didn’t say what Branch got surgery for but did confirm that it was a small “cleanup” and that he’ll be ready for training camp.
“We feel like he’s progressing well,” Campbell said , (first transcribed by ProFootballTalk ). “We feel like he’ll be ready to go in camp, if not early enough, he’ll certainly get enough reps to be ready for the season. That’s how we feel right now.”
Having Branch ready for camp is what’s most important since that’s when the season starts getting to the point of being right around the corner.
Branch appeared in 15 games during the regular season this past year, finishing with 74 total tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, three interceptions, and 13 passes defended. It was his first season in the NFL after being selected in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
He then appeared in all three playoff games for the Lions and made 20 tackles (14 solo). He also added a sack and a pass defended.
