It’s getting close to roster cutdowns. The deadline for trimming the current 90-man training camp roster down to 53 on the initial regular-season roster is August 27th, not even a week away. The Detroit Lions have one last practice on Wednesday and then Saturday afternoon’s preseason finale against the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers before making the tough choices.
And there are a few of them, thanks to a variety of circumstances that have played out during training camp and the preseason. Injuries, both new and lingering, are a heavy factor in a couple of different spots. Players at certain spots exceeding their expectations square off against some who haven’t lived up to their billing.
There are a few changes from the last projection , which came after the Lions preseason loss to the Giants.
