The Detroit Lions and Pro Bowl quarterback Jared Goff have reached an agreement on a lucrative new contract extension that will keep Goff in Honolulu Blue and Silver for the foreseeable future.
Per numerous reports, Goff will receive a four-year contract extension worth $212 million, with some $170 million fully guaranteed. The exact details of the deal are not yet known, but the $53 million per season average annual salary would make Goff the second-highest-paid quarterback in the NFL after Joe Burrow of the Bengals.
It’s a huge deal for Goff, and also for the Lions. The amount of the deal caught many off-guard, despite Lions GM Brad Holmes recently stating how much of a priority it was to get a deal done with Goff. The news coaxed all sorts of reactions on social media.
