Former Lions CB Jerry Jacobs has finally landed with a new team.
Former Detroit Lions cornerback Jerry Jacobs has finally found a new NFL home. As first reported by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Jacobs is signing with the Los Angeles Rams .
Jacobs’ contract with the Lions expired this offseason after three seasons and 40 games played in Detroit. Over that time, Jacobs tallied 29 starts, 23 passes defended, and four interceptions. However, he was benched toward the end of last year, and with the Lions’ huge overhaul of the cornerback this room—including the additions of Carlton Davis, Amik Robertson, Terrion Arnold, and Ennis Rakestraw Jr.—Detroit opted to move on from the 26-year-old cornerback.
This offseason saw Jacobs visiting several different teams over the past few months, but he’ll finally get his next opportunity with the Rams. Los Angeles recently lost cornerback Derion Kendrick—a projected started—to a torn ACL, opening up an opportunity for Jacobs and other Rams competitors.
If Jacobs can stick with the Rams, it would set up an opportunity for a Week 1 revenge game against the Lions. The Rams and Lions kick off the NFL’s “Sunday Night Football” schedule at Ford Field in a rematch of last year’s NFC Wild Card game, in which the Lions walked away victorious, 24-23.

Jacobs recently posted a hopeful message on Twitter.
