Ennis Rakestraw continues to struggle with the injury bug.
The Detroit Lions started Sunday morning with some good injury news , but by the end of practice, there were a couple more names to add to the injury list.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Lions’ injury situation after Day 9 of training camp.
Still on injury list:
- G Miles Frazier (PUP)
- DT Alim McNeill (PUP)
- DT Mekhi Wingo (PUP)
- EDGE Josh Paschal (NFI)
- LB Malcolm Rodriguez (PUP)
- CB Khalil Dorsey (PUP)
Activated:
- LT Taylor Decker
Decker is the only change from the injury lists, as the Lions starting left tackle returned to practice for the first time since a shoulder clean-up procedure. Decker was limited to positional drills in practice, with Jamarco Jones and Giovanni Manu filling his spot (with Dan Skipper out with injury) when it came to team drills.
Not practicing:
- RB Kye Robichaux
- TE Kenny Yeboah
- OT Dan Skipper
- CB Terrion Arnold
Robichaux remains out after suffering an injury during practice last week.
While Yeboah suffered an injury in Thursday’s preseason game, coach Dan Campbell said his absence on Sunday was related to a personal issue and he is expected to be fine from the injury.
“He should be good. He’s got a personal, he’s dealing with a personal, in a good way,” Campbell said. “He’ll be back tonight. He won’t practice today.”
As previously noted here, Skipper and Arnold received good news on their respective injuries. Arnold is expected back later this week from his hamstring injury, while Skipper should be back next week after suffering an ankle injury in the preseason game,
Returned to practice
- CB Amik Robertson
- S Kerby Joseph
Amik Robertson was back after missing a couple of practices and did not appear to be limited at all in his usage. Joseph, as Campbell predicted last week, was back on Sunday. While he did participate in some team drills, he split his time with Avonte Maddox as the starting safety alongside Brian Branch. It’s clear they’re easing him back in.
No longer limited
- RB Sione Vaki
Vaki got plenty of team drills in on Sunday for the first time since his early injury in camp. He got some work with the second-team offense and plenty of one-on-one work, as well.
Left practice
- CB Ennis Rakestraw (shouldere)
- S Dan Jackson (leg)
Rakestraw has been battling a chest injury all of camp, and now he has a shoulder injury. On the very first one-on-one tackling rep of practice, he tried to take down Tom Kennedy only to come down hard on his shoulder. The media’s view was obstructed from watching how Rakestraw was treated by the medical team on the field, but he did not return to practice.
Jackson’s injury was not picked up by the media, but the team simply offered an official update that he’s dealing with a leg injury.
