Discussion: Who will be the most improved player at Detroit Lions training camp?

Which Detroit Lions player will show the biggest improvement from last year in training camp?

On Sunday, the Detroit Lions will lift the veil for their 2025 season. Training camp kicks off its first practice in what is one of the most anticipated seasons in franchise history.

Training camp is magical because it not only marks the first taste of something resembling football since the end of last season, but it also provides media access unlike any other time of year. We get to witness entire practices and have the opportunity to talk to any players as they’re walking off the field. Contrast that with the regular season, in which we only get to watch warmups and then talk to whoever happens to be in the locker room that day.

One of my favorite parts of training camp is watching the development of players from year to year. While it’s easy to get distracted by the already-established stars, more information is gathered from players who may not have played much in the previous season, and you’re able to compare how they look this year compared to last year’s camp. It’s an opportunity to see players improve and the Lions’ developmental program in action.

That leads us to today’s Question of the Day:

Who will be the most improved player at Lions training camp this year?

My answer: I’ll admit, I am a bit caught up in the Giovanni Manu hype. He was widely praised at the end of last season and during the spring program, so I’m eager to see that improvement myself after witnessing a rough rookie camp last year.

But I want to go with a player who could have a bigger impact on the team this year. We have already seen some significant growth from Terrion Arnold last year. While the stats may not show it, Arnold grew more comfortable with the defense, got less “grabby” when it came to drawing penalties, and, most importantly, he played nearly every game, logging 948 defensive snaps over the season.

That experience will prove invaluable. And when you pair a year of experience with the strong work ethic and intelligence of Arnold, the stage is set for a Year 2 jump that could make Detroit’s secondary their biggest strength on the roster. He’s someone I’m keeping an eye on all camp.

Which Lions player do you think will make the biggest improvement from last year? Scroll down to the comment section and let us know.
