Discussion: What is the best thing about the Lions’ 2024 schedule?

Now that we’ve all had some time to digest, what is the best part about the Lions’ 2024 schedule?

The NFL offseason is a long and grueling wait, and in mid-May, the hype following the NFL Draft has died down, so the only thing to cling onto is the NFL schedule release. This year, the Detroit Lions are making a case to be “America’s Team” with nine total nationally televised games, and five of those being primetime games .

It’s not all love from the NFL, however, as the Lions once again have an early bye in Week 5 and have the earliest average bye week since 2015 .

Today’s Question of the Day is…

What is the best thing about the Lions’ 2024 schedule?

My answer: Only three total games outdoors for the Lions.

It’s been well established already that quarterback Jared Goff performs much better indoors than he does outdoors . When looking at his indoor/outdoor splits from 2023, Goff had a QB rating of 104.0 when playing indoors compared to an 87.9 QB rating outdoors.

In the first 15 weeks of the season, Goff and the Lions will only see one game outdoors, and that will be against the Green Bay Packers , where the temperatures will likely be much warmer in November than when they’re typically accustomed to playing at Lambeau Field later in the year.

Getting Goff in a groove is very important for this offense. When he’s on, he looks like an MVP candidate, and when he’s off his game, the game-changing turnovers can creep in.

Let’s hear from you. What are your favorite things about the Lions’ 2024 schedule? Be sure to drop your thoughts in the comments below.
