A full, detailed list of Detroit Lions players who were absent, limited, or observers at Thursday’s OTA practice.

Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell opened up his press conference by rattling off a list of 17 players who were going to be limited or absent from Thursday’s practice, either due to injury or personal reasons. Here’s that list:

Players Dan Campbell said will be out or limited today at practice:

– Ragnow
– Decker
– LaPorta
– Awosika
– Sudfeld
– Gibbs
– Z. Knight
– Branch
– K. Joseph
– Davenport
– Reader
– Cominsky
– Barnes
– Moseley
– Arnold
– Rakestraw
– Anzalone

However, Campbell didn’t give any details on which players were absent, which players were sidelined, and who was limited. We were present at Thursday’s practice and took attendance for our own personal injury report. It’s worth noting that at this point in the offseason, there is no official injury report, so this is purely my own reporting.

Did not see at practice

Bolded names refer to players not named by Campbell above

RB Jahmyr Gibbs
TE Sam LaPorta
OT Taylor Decker
C Frank Ragnow
G Kayode Awosika
EDGE Marcus Davenport
EDGE Josh Paschal
EDGE James Houston
DT DJ Reader
LB Alex Anzalone

It’s unclear why Josh Paschal and James Houston were not at practice on Thursday but it afforded more opportunities to guys like Mathieu Betts, John Cominsky, and Chris Smith.

At practice, not doing anything

DB Brian Branch

Branch was an observer at Thursday’s practice. He was still in a boot and a scooter, but Campbell indicated the “clean-up” operation he had this offseason was done in time for them to expect him to be ready by training camp.

At practice, limited

QB Nate Sudfeld
RB Zonovan Knight
LB Derrick Barnes
CB Emmanuel Moseley
CB Terrion Arnold
CB Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
S Kerby Joseph

Each of these players requires a bit more explanation.

QB Nate Sudfeld – Did not appear to be too limited, as he participated as QB3 during 7-on-7 drills, but was held out of 11-on-11s.

RB Zonovan Knight – Participated in walk throughs and individual drills. I did not see him during team drills.

LB Derrick Barnes – Participated in walk throughs and individual drills. Did not see a ton of team work out of him. It was mostly Jack Campbell and Malcolm Rodriguez with the first team.

CB Emmanuel Moseley – Participated in walk throughs without a helmet, but did not participate in the rest of practice.

CB Terrion Arnold – Participated in walk throughs and some individuals, but no teams drills. The first-team outside cornerbacks were mostly Carlton Davis and Kindle Vildor.

CB Ennis Rakestraw Jr. – Participated in walk throughs and some individuals, but no teams drills. The first-team nickel cornerback was Amik Robertson.

S Kerby Joseph – Was in a uniform, but did not truly participate in practice. During walk throughs, he was on the field as a consultant to the other defensive backs. During the rest of practice, he was pretty aggressively rehabbing, working at a pretty good pace.

The Lions have the holiday weekend off and will return to practice for Week 2 of OTAs on Wednesday, May 29.
