The Detroit Lions had one heck of a 2023 season.
They won the NFC North and got to the NFC Championship Game before blowing a 17-point lead to the San Francisco 49ers. They were a win away from playing in the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history.
Head coach Dan Campbell is ready for more this year and has some targets for the Lions to beat.
“I would say this: the motivator is we still have things that we circle, too. We have our own (expletive). So we’re the team with the target on our back, but we’ve circled some people too now. We have targets, too,” Campbell said , (first transcribed by ProFootballTalk ).
One of those targets could be the 49ers after they lost to them in the NFC Title Game. They’ll get their chance at getting some revenge when they travel back to San Francisco on Dec. 30.
They’ll also look to potentially take down the Chiefs if both get to the Super Bowl this upcoming season.
The Lions will get their 2024 season started against Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams on September 8. Kickoff will be at 8:15 p.m. ET.
