Best player prop bets for Lions vs. Cowboys

We identify our favorite player prop bets to consider for the Detroit Lions Week 17 matchup with the Dallas Cowboys.

The Detroit Lions have their final road game of the regular season in Week 17, taking on the Dallas Cowboys in a battle for playoff seeding. In what figures to be a potential shootout, the folks over at DraftKings Sportsbook have provided us with some interesting play props and odds for the game.

Let’s take a look at some of our favorites.

Jaymyr Gibbs, OVER 50.5 rushing yards (-115)

Two weeks ago, The Buffalo Bills bullied Dallas’ defensive front with a gap-power rushing scheme, rushing the ball 49 times for 266 yards. Running back James Cook led the Bills with 179 rushing yards and a touchdown, as well as two receptions for 42 receiving yards and another touchdown.

As I mentioned in my weekly Keys to Victory article , the Lions are tremendous at executing a gap-power rushing attack, and Jahmyr Gibbs—who stylistically is similar to Cook—has been on a tear as of late.

In the last five weeks, not only has Gibbs exceeded this week’s projected bet line in each game, but he has smashed that total in the more recent two, including against the Vikings’ top 10 DVOA rushing defense.

  • Week 16 at Vikings: 80 rushing yards
  • Week 15 vs. Broncos: 100 rushing yards
  • Week 14 at Bears: 66 rushing yards
  • Week 13 at Saints: 60 rushing yards
  • Week 12 vs. Packers : 54 rushing yards

Gibbs has a chance to keep his exhilarating rookie season rolling in Dallas on Saturday night. Speaking of which…

Jaymyr Gibbs, Anytime touchdown (+105)

In the last three games, Gibbs has scored five touchdowns, including two touchdowns in each of the last two games. With the Lions expected to lean on their running backs in this game, it only takes a minor crack in the defense for Gibbs to take one to the house. Additionally, by taking an anytime touchdown, it won’t matter if he reaches the end zone on the ground or through the air. I’m sticking with the hot hand.

Jameson Williams, OVER 32.5 receiving yards (-130)

Outside of Amon-Ra St. Brown, no Lions pass catcher has been targeted or caught more passes than Jameson Williams over the last two weeks—and yes, that includes tight end Sam LaPorta.

  • Week 17 at Vikings, 5 catches on 6 targets, 43 receiving yards
  • Week 16 vs. Broncos, 4 catches on 7 targets, 47 receiving yards

Recently, there has been a distinct movement to get Williams involved more, and with his speed, he’s a threat to gain yards in chunks every time he touches the ball.
