Detroit Lions legend Barry Sanders revealed this Friday that he’s less than a week removed from suffering a health scare.

Sanders, a former MVP and 10-time Pro Bowler, had a heart-related scare occur this past Father’s Day. Thankfully, he received immediate care from healthcare professionals.

“Over Father’s Day weekend, I experienced a health scare related to my heart,” Sanders said in a statement . “It was unexpected and served as a reminder of the importance of staying vigilant about our physical well-being, even when we are feeling fine.

“I am grateful for the amazing doctors, nurses and other healthcare profressionals for providing me with needed care. My family and I are thankful for your prayers and support during this time.”

Sanders, 55, finished his statement by saying he’ll take time to prioritize his health and well-being.

Immediately after Sanders released this statement on social media, NFL fans replied with their thoughts and prayers.

“I’m glad you’re okay,” one fan said. “Please rest up and get better Barry.”

“Glad you’re okay, goat,” another fan wrote. “Take care of yourself.”

To this day, plenty of fans consider Sanders the greatest running back of all-time.

We’re hoping Sanders makes a full recovery and stays safe for years to come.
