All-Pro Playmaker Makes Revealing Statement Amid Praise for Rams

June 12, 2025 by Heavy

The Los Angeles Rams signed Davante Adams to a two-year, $44 million contract in free agency this offseason.

After eight seasons with the Green Bay Packers, Adams spent two-plus seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders, spending the final 11 games of the 2024 season with the New York Jets. His last two stops, in Las Vegas and New York, were especially tumultuous.

Adams is grateful to have left that behind and to be with the Rams.

“It’s been good, man. It’s been exactly what I needed. Feeling rejuvenated,” Adams told reporters on June 11. “It’s just about ball. It’s no other BS.

“Got a really good quarterback in here, got a really good young team that shows a lot of promise and was, obviously, really close to being able to have a chance at the whole thing last year. So, just knowing how hungry this team is and seeing the work that they’re still putting in after having a year like last year, it just kind of confirms that I’m in the right place.”

Adams said his Rams teammates have made him feel welcomed and like he is already years into his tenure. He cited his budding connection with quarterback Matthew Stafford and head coach Sean McVay ’s efforts to welcome him as part of the experience.

Adams is replacing Cooper Kupp , now of the Seattle Seahawks , in the Rams’ offense. He has already learned a valuable lesson about his new QB, who has dazzled with his arm talent throughout his career.

“Well, the main thing is, based off a couple we had today, he don’t care what that coverage is. If they’re not playing that coverage right, you might get the ball still,” Adams said.

“Everybody at all times got to make sure. It’s never just a for the love of the game [route]. I’m sure everybody’s heard of those routes, where you kind of designed to clear out. Or maybe based off a certain coverage, you’ll be eliminated. Uh-uh. That ain’t how he roll, and you got to be a dog to do that. You got to have a lot of confidence in your arm and who’s across from you, who you’re throwing the ball to, and kind of all of that.”

“What I think is really cool to be able to witness, is the respect that you can feel they have for one another.”

“If you got a guy like that, that’s going to make you defend it the proper way, not just allow you to display a coverage, and that dictate where the ball goes, you’re in trouble,” Adams said, relaying an anecdote about a rep from Wednesday’s practice during Rams OTAs.

Davante Adams Eager to Teach Puka Nacua

Adams has the accolades. However, Puka Nacua figures to at least receive the 1A share of the targets between the two. Fittingly, Adams is passing his knowledge along to the young Rams star, Nacua, who has been an eager pupil.

“A lot more tools than what I even knew before,” Adams said of his impressions of Nacua.

“I got a lot of respect for his game, his approach. This is exactly what a young guy in this league should attack with a veteran coming in that has a lot of experience and knowledge. And it just makes it more fun for me too on my side, and easier for me to share the secrets and the different tools and small nuances that go into wide receiver play and and he’s eager to learn, which also makes it fun, too.”

Nacua praised Adams, saying the six-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro had already made an impact on the Rams.

“I think the positive impact has already been felt from Davante,” Nacua told reporters on June 3. “From the moment he walked in, he has been willing to offer information, to have new drills, to a complete different mindset of somebody who’s played in various offenses, very different schemes, and stuff like that. So, it’s been exciting to hear from him.”
