Last year’s playoffs ended about as disappointingly as one could imagine for the Detroit Lions. But Aidan Hutchinson hasn’t lost any confidence in his team’s ability to bring the first Super Bowl back to the Motor City.
Taking some time to speak with Brad Galli of WXYZ 7 News last week, the Pro Bowl defensive end was adamant that this is “the year ” the Lions finally breakthrough.
“I feel like it’s the year,” Hutchinson said. “With every fiber of my body, I feel like it’s the year. Honestly, from this year on, every year is the year. With the guys that we have, I hope that we’re going to sustain the success for a long time.”
The Lions paid out a ton of cash to their key offensive pieces this offseason. Handing out nearly half a billion dollars in combined contract money to quarterback Jared Goff, wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and All-Pro tackle Penei Sewell.
Hutchinson is likely next in line to score a huge payday from the organization after back-to-back impressive seasons to start his career and his emergence as one of the team’s leaders.
Hopefully for Lions fans’ sakes, the former second overall pick is proven right in 2024.
