5 Teams Other Than The Chiefs That Can Win Super Bowl LIX

February 19, 2024 by The Spun

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – FEBRUARY 11: Patrick Mahomes #15 of the Kansas City Chiefs celebrates with the Vince Lombardi Trophy following the NFL Super Bowl 58 football game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs at Allegiant Stadium on February 11, 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada. If there’s any team that could complete the first ever Super Bowl three-peat it’s the Kansas City Chiefs, but history certainly doesn’t favor them.

It’s hard to bet against any team that has Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid, Travis Kelce and one of the strongest defenses in the NFL . However, if there’s anyone that could potentially unseat them in Super Bowl LIX its one of these five:

1. San Francisco 49ers

San Francisco has been knocking at the door for some time now. Few teams can boast the overall talent level of the Niners’ roster and with Brock Purdy still on his rookie deal and most of their starters coming back they have as good a chance as any to finally breakthrough in 2025. If they can avoid the dreaded Super Bowl hangover that is…

2. Cincinnati Bengals

The only team in the AFC that has proven it can go toe-to-toe with Kansas City deep in the playoffs, a healthy Joe Burrow and the Bengals could very much be in the Super Bowl 59 mix at the end of the season.

3. Green Bay Packers

A youthful team on the rise, the Green Bay Packers are young and hungry with inexpensive weapons all over the field and a promising franchise quarterback. Matt LaFleur’s team was one quarter away from vying for a Super Bowl berth these past playoffs. If they can take the next step in 2025 they could be dangerous.

4. Detroit Lions

If we’re being honest Detroit probably should’ve been playing the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII. And while there’s a ton to like about the Lions’ coach and roster, historically bad franchises tend not to come back from collapses like we saw in the NFC Championship game. Still though, you have to love what Dan Campbell and the team’s front office have built in the Motor City.

A Lombardi Trophy is still in the cards.

5. Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles’ Super Bowl LIX chances really come down to one thing: Was 2022 the outlier or the rule for Jalen Hurts? After a 10-1 start, Philly went 1-5 down the stretch and were bounced out of the playoffs in embarrassing fashion. But if the defense can come back revamped and Hurts returns to his borderline MVP form the talent is there in a pretty weak division.
