2024 Fantasy Football Profile: Amon-Ra St. Brown

August 24, 2024 by Last Word On Pro Football

ARSB fantasy

Amon-Ra St. Brown proved his worth last year for the Lions after posting over 1,500 yards and 10 touchdowns. It was one of the best seasons from a wide receiver that the league has seen recently, but how does he replicate it or take another step forward in 2024?

Fantasy Football Draft Guide

2023 in Review

St. Brown was one of the most targeted players in football in 2023 receiving 30% of all targets from Jared Goff. That enabled him to post his 1,515 yards in his third year out of USC. He caught a lot of passes, but he averaged 12.7 yards per catch as Goff would really stretch the field to him. St. Brown certainly made the most of his opportunities.

He finished as the WR3 behind CeeDee Lamb and Tyreek Hill in both standard and PPR formats, but there’s no shame in finishing behind them. Both receivers finished with 1,700+ yards and 12+ touchdowns which are difficult numbers to beat for anyone in the league. It earned him a $120 million extension over four years in the offseason.

2024 Projection

Given how good of a season St. Brown had last year, it’s going to be tough to try and do better than his 2023 numbers, but it’s certainly possible. He had two bad weeks in 2023 (Weeks 13 and 14) that would need to become productive games in order to take a step forward, assuming he produces the way he did in every game last year.

St. Brown’s goal for 2024 is to try and produce 100-yard games more frequently. He had eight of them in fantasy weeks last year (nine total), but if he wants to give Hill and Lamb a run for their money, that number might need to go up into double digits.

There’s a chance that St. Brown can finish as the WR1 in 2024. His odds aren’t the best compared to Hill or Lamb, but they’re not zero. If Lamb’s hold-in stretches into the regular season, just one or two games can be enough for St. Brown to get a comfortable lead over him and only have to get the better of Hill.

Amon-Ra St. Brown Fantasy Football ADP

St. Brown’s ADP right now has him going eighth overall with a range of 3-11 for his draft selection. Quite honestly, there’s no reason why he should be going later than six… and that’s under the impression that picks 1-5 are the top three running backs (Christian McCaffrey/Breece Hall /Bijan Robinson), Lamb and Hill. If St. Brown makes it past pick six in any league, consider yourself lucky that someone in your league passed on him.

With Lamb’s hold in for a new contract, don’t be surprised if St. Brown moves up a little more and surpasses Lamb on draft boards. He has the potential to do so and become the fourth or fifth pick. Those who go with the no-running-back strategy should be all over St. Brown in the first round. Very few players hold league-winning caliber, but he’s one of them.
