The NFL released the dates for Lions players to report to Allen Park for training camp. We have all the details here:
On Tuesday, the NFL released each team’s training camp report dates and locations , with the Detroit Lions bringing their players back to Allen Park starting on July 20.
The Lions completed their OTA and minicamp spring schedule in mid-June and are currently on a summer break. For most players, that means training independently, working at training facilities, in player-organized workout sessions, or simply giving their bodies a break and taking vacations. Some players new to the team will use this time to get familiar and settled in their new homes, while other players dealing with injuries will stay in town in order to maintain their rehab.
Then, on July 20, all of the team’s rookies will report to Allen Park to begin their acclimation. Other veterans—such as ones dealing with injuries—will also report during this time, though it is not required. The veterans will officially report to training camp on July 23, and the team will take their conditioning tests before they are allowed to participate in team activities.
From there, the players who passed their physicals will begin practicing on the field soon—usually in a day or two—, with the media typically being allowed to attend training camp practices during the NFL-mandated five-day acclimation phase of training camp. During this ramp-up phase, players do not wear pads (shells will typically be used at the end of the acclimation) and instead, they focus on conditioning their bodies for camp and the long season.
Fans are typically allowed to attend practices near the end of the acclimation process or shortly after its conclusion. In 2023, the Lions opened camp to the media on July 23 and the fans were welcomed into Allen Park on July 29.
At this time we do not know the Lions’ official training camp dates or when fans will be allowed to attend, but for reference, that information was released on June 27 in 2023.
