The initial Detroit Lions’ 53-man roster for the 2024 season has been finalized. Check it out here.
Cutdown weekend continues to get harder and harder for the Detroit Lions. Alas, that is the curse of a Super Bowl contending team. More talent means more talented cuts and tougher decisions. It’s a grueling process for all 32 teams, and we’ve seen coach Dan Campbell agonize over some of these decisions in the past.
Campbell and general manager Brad Holmes have managed, though. Over the past 48 hours, the Lions have made the necessary 37 roster moves to get the roster down from 90 to 53 by the 4 p.m. ET deadline on Tuesday (even if they weren’t announced publicly by 4 p.m ET). Obviously, this roster is very subject to change not only throughout the season but even in the upcoming days as Detroit searches the huge pool of recently-cut players for improvements.
For now, here’s a look at what we’re calling the Lions’ initial 53-man roster for the 2024 season.
Note: It appears the Lions’ initial 53-man roster is actually just 52 players. We’ll see what the Lions do to fill that extra spot.
