Two Detroit Lions players left practice on Thursday, but their conditions are unknown.

After Thursday’s practice, the Detroit Lions offered an official injury update from training camp.

Per the team, Terrion Arnold is getting evaluated for a leg injury, while Derrick Barnes left practice early with a hand injury. The level of injury at this point is unknown, and I didn’t personally witness either player suffer their respective injury, nor did I see the manner in which either player left the field. However, both were noticeably absent during the final segment of 11-on-11 drills.

UPDATE: Per NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Terrion Arnold has a “calf strain” and Detroit “plans to be cautious before putting him back on the field.” Barnes “should be fine.”

Arnold has been having a strong start to training camp in his second season, earning high praise from defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard prior to Thursday’s practice.

“Terrion Arnold took a huge leap, in my opinion, this offseason,” Sheppard said. “He progressed during his rookie year, but he’s come in, not only this offseason but this training camp, looking like a different guy. His body’s more developed, but also from the neck up, the mental aspect of the game. He’s seeing it faster. He’s feeling the routes faster.”

The Lions have been a little shorthanded at cornerback early in camp, with Ennis Rakestraw (chest) and Khalil Dorsey (leg) sidelined. They did get a little more help on Thursday, with Stantley Thomas-Oliver returning from the Non-Football Injury list.

Barnes is coming into 2025 after missing most of last season with a knee injury. When he was out of practice on Thursday, it was Trevor Nowaske taking his place in the lineup.

We’ll likely get an update on each player’s condition during Dan Campbell’s next press conference on Friday morning.
